Famous Herbologists.
I apologise for the major delay in the posting of this lesson. I have decided to go against the syllabus in the class and this month we will be looking at famous herbologists and then next month we will look at muggle/mundane plants.
The first Herbologist that we will be looking at in this lesson is Beaumont Majoribanks. Born in 1742, Beaumont is considered a famous Herbologist after he was credited for discovering the magical plant that we all should know about, Gillyweed. Some speculation does exist however as to whether or not he should receive this credit however due to the fact that Elladora Ketteridge did infact stumble upon Gillyweed around 100 years prior to the discovery of it by Beaumont. Elladora Ketteridge discovered the properties of this magical plant after almost suffocating after consuming some of it; she did however manage to save herself by placing her head inside of a bucket of water. Nonetheless, Beaumont Majoribanks is considered a true pioneer in this particular subject also for his work classifying and collecting samples of many different species of magical plants completed over the duration of his 103 years of living. Beaumont Majoribanks died in 1985 and has since had a chocolate frog card made featuring him.

While Beaumont may be famous for discovering plants, the next wizard we will be looking at is famous for his extensive knowledge in this subject, which led to him writing a book to educate others on Herbology. Although it may not be one of the most well known of the Herbology textbooks in existence, Hadrian Whittle is known throughout the wizarding community for his work in producing the book, Magical Plants of the Highland Lochs.
Like Hadrian Whittle, Miranda Goshawk is another famous person from the wizarding community known for writing about Herbology. Most people would associate Miranda for her work in charms, producing such titles such as The Standard Book of Spells however, her work in producing Goshawk’s Guide to Herbology, might have been a bit unknown to few. This particular book contains a great deal of information which is relevant to the subject of Herbology such as information regarding to a wizard in Nepal known for growing gravity-resistant trees!
Tilden Toots will be the next famous Herbologist we will be looking at. Tilden is known amongst the wizarding community for hosting his very own radio program, Toots, Shoots ‘n’ Roots, which airs on the Wizarding Wireless Network. Tilden also has a very strange feature about him; he quite literally has three green thumbs. On the left hand of Tilden Toots, one would notice two green thumbs coming out of where only one thumb could be, whereas his right hand has just the one green thumb. Tilden also is known for producing his own line of potions which are all plant related, such as his Rejuicer, which can be used to bring dead plants back to life with the aid of another one of his potions, known as Regerminator.
Finally, to end this lesson we will be looking at two Herbologists, which may not be so famous in the entire wizarding community, but rather in the history of Hogwarts. Herbert Breery was a former professor of Herbology during the time in which the Headmaster of Hogwarts was Armando Dippet. He is one of the first known professors of Herbology that we know about from the Harry Potter Series. Herbert was also a lover of the dramatic arts, a calling that lead him away from teaching at Hogwarts. The final Herbologist we will be learning about is the professor who we know took over Professor Breery’s position as Herbology Professor. We will all know Pomona Sprout was the teacher of this subject whilst Harry Potter was at Hogwarts and that she taught him along with other students various knowledge about this subject over the duration of their time at Hogwarts.

I do apologise for the short lesson and the fact that it was posted so late once again, but please head on over to complete the assignment.
